Africa map & links

This was a journey of interest, beauty and diversity.
A journey flooded with the sounds of music, nature, colour and languages. It was a journey of excitement and adventure ably put together with the expertise and experience of Amanda and Guy Marks and with the guidance of Paul Barton of Tribes Travel.

Africa is a special place - the more you see, the more you want to stay! There's something strangely familiar and comforting about Africa's landscape and its animals and people. We especially miss camping in the bush and falling asleep to the distant (and sometimes not so distant!) sounds of hippos, hyenas, and lions.

Our heritage in the words of Kenny Salwey the American naturalist is that of outdoor beings, who in comparatively recent times have become indoor beings that talk about the outdoors. For a short time we experienced what it is to be outdoor beings again.

On the map you will see all the countries that we encountered during our short time in Africa (see our travel logs). Some unfortunately like South Africa were just staging posts on our journey and we have little or nothing photographically to share with you. On the other hand where a country does have a link, Kate through her camera has tried to convey the beauty of the wildlife and the majesty and awe inspiring scenery that is the magic of Africa. Try as she might it is impossible to convey the magnificence of the scenery and wildlife and the emotional encounters with its people and wildlife that have enriched our lives and broadened our
minds by our experiences on this continent.
